Our youngest learners are having a blast in the brand-new Early Years outdoor play area, completed in February!
Teachers and support staff Co-op Academy Hillside, Co-op Academy Woodslee and Co-op Academy Portland joined forces for a non-stop spinathon on Saturday 8th February. Together, they cycled for 1474 miles - the same distance as cycling to Naples!

We are very excited that our long awaited revamp of our Early Years outside area (between Reception and Year 1) starts on Wednesday! The works are expected to be completed by February half-term. Whilst the works are being completed, there will be a temporary plan for Year 1, Base 1 and Reception pupils' entry and collection from school. A huge congratulations to these 4 Superstars who represented Co-op Academy Hillside at the GoIT finals in Manchester yesterday! They presented their innovative water-saving app idea to a panel of judges and fellow students from all Co-op Academies. They spoke brilliantly, and their behavior was exemplary. Well done! 👏
Year 5 took on another exciting STEAM project, this time focusing on engineering with a spaghetti and marshmallow challenge. The teamwork was fantastic, and despite the temptation, not a single sweet was eaten! Well done, Year 5!

Katy Bergman’s post has been extended. She is now Executive Headteacher across all three of our Wirral Co-op Academies.
We have strengthened our leadership team at Co-op Academy Hillside, effective immediately:
Katy Bergman as our Executive Headteacher.
Jennie Hamer will step into the role of Head of School.
Many of you will already know Mrs Hamer as a valued and longstanding member of our school team as EYFS lead and Assistant Headteacher. We are sure she will enjoy much success within her new role, Congratulations, Jennie!
Claire Culshaw will continue with her role of Deputy Headteacher, ensuring consistency and stability to our school community.
As the current Executive Headteacher of Co-op Academy Hillside and Co-op Academy Woodslee, Katy is looking forward to working with Team Portland to strengthen our partnership. Please be reassured, Katy will continue to be highly involved in all things Hillside.
Today, Year 5 dove into their first STEAM project, where they were challenged to build their own catapults using limited resources. Their teamwork, creativity, and success were all evaluated by a very impressed Mrs. Clayton. Well done, Year 5! #SucceedTogether
